Gregg Schmedes, MD specializes in general ENT ranging from hearing loss to sinus care and from tonsils and tubes to thyroid. He treats patients of National Sinus Institute in the Albuquerque and Rio Rancho areas.

Dr. Schmedes earned his bachelor’s degree at the University of Texas, majoring in electrical engineering. He also ran track and field for the Longhorns. He then attended medical school at Texas Tech University where he was president of his class.

As a state legislator, Dr. Schmedes is actively engaged in improving healthcare in New Mexico and is New Mexico’s Director for the American Academy of Medical Ethics.

Living in Tijeras with his wife, Kelly of 13 years and their six children, the Schmedes are active members of their local church in Cedar Crest.

Before moving to Albuquerque the family spent 2 years in Cameroon, Africa with Samaritan’s purse, where Dr. Schmedes taught the next generation of African surgeons.
